Luminary Think - the Creation

"i like the dermabrasion analogy. there's sooo much we must shed. i wish we could all see the ball of beauty God has wrapped up in each of us. im so on this light tip right now-just like a ball of fire in the midst of all our chests -call it our hearts-just suspended, made of pure gold and God's love."

I visited the page of a Facebook friend requester and read in his bio something about the "luminaries of our day," which of course prompted me to verify the exact definition of luminary (I'm a stickler for exact definitions). Quick look up says: role model, guiding light, hero, inspiration, etc. Seconds before Headline News blares that Chris Brown (CB) relinquished his Kids' Choice Awards nomination. Oh how my mind churned!

CAUTION: RAMBLINGS

Who are these luminaries?! What defines one? Like two months ago CB might have been one, but now, that reads a negative. Then what is that to say of the judgment of the public? Sure we have no clue about the private goings-on of our most adored celebs, but is there public instinct? ABSOLUTELY not! Why not? Maybe we are too quick to toss around "legendary," "role model," "king." Okay, not all are bad. this CB fiasco can dare not eclipse our international hero Barack. We label these people so quickly though, and then temporarily throw them into the trenches when they commit an infraction (emphasis on the temporary nature of our disdain). So if not the public, who defines these luminaries?

Who are the luminaries? They're obviously important if they are the role models and leaders of our day. They are who people follow and emulate. I'm a Christian, so my mind immediately forwards to the verse that that we are the light of the world - those components that bring/emit light to others. Are we the ultimate luminaries?

And then I think about the quote I learned this past summer, "Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure..." This includes everyone. Something of which I completely believe - Everyone has a light inside. Hence, the quote above, which is a comment I wrote on a friends Facebook note. But it takes a measure of shedding layers to get to everyone's own little ball of fire inside.

So...

Luminary Think -

// on thinking about being a luminary, what it means to be one, what is one, luminary thinking, standards of luminary thinking, luminary living, luminary lifestyle, luminary the adjective //

This isn't one of those blogs where I just claim to be the last word on what it means to be a luminary, or that I am a self-proclaimed one. Like "I'm da baddest!" I'm not saying that! lol. Loosely defined right now in the midst of fragmented reasoning and oscillating between the actual noun definition and my ensuing projected adjective definitions of the term, the theory upon which this blog is based is:

Everyone is a luminary, yet everyone is not luminary.
